Jermaine Kearse prep athlete of the year

Lakes High School star athlete Jermaine Kearse was just named the Tribnet's male prep athlete of the year. Kearse will play for the UW football program next season. The wide receiver finished last year with 55 catches for 903 yards and eight touchdowns. In December, Kearse played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl down in San Antonio. Kearse was a three sport player, also playing for the Lakes basketball and track teams.


Not to be outdone, Tumwater High School senior Ashley Andrews was named the TNT's prep female athlete of the year. The 5-foot-7 point guard led the state tournament for the last four seasons. As a fastpitch infielder, Andrews batted .449 and was 27-of-29 on stolen base attempts. Andrews has committed to play for softball powerhouse, Tennessee.
