Ten Questions: Cascade's Jake Huizinga
Up next, Cascade High School head football coach Jake Huizinga. Coach Huizinga has been with the program for 16 years, seven as the head coach. He teaches Physical Education and played football in Richmond, BC and Bethel College, in Saint Paul. Last season, Coach Huizinga took the Bruins to the first round of the 4A Championships.
1."How long have you been coaching?"
"Coached wrestling for 28 years and football for 20 years."
2."What is your favorite part about coaching?"
"Working with young men and watching them grow into men."
3."What players or teams (offense, defense, special teams) are you expecting big things from this season?"
"We approach our team as being proficient in every aspect of the game. Whole team, all areas."
4."Who, or what, do you see as your main competition next season?"
"We are in a new league and feel that there are quality teams throughout."
5."What has been your most defining moment as a head football coach?"
"Learning the game from Coach Terry Ennis."
6."What was the most rewarding event of last season?"
"Winning our first playoff game against a talented Federal Way team.
7."What is the hardest part of coaching?"
"Paperwork that comes with high school sports."
8."Who do you consider to be your role model?"
"Tony Dungy."
9."What is your favorite hobby outside of sports?"
"Exercise. Hanging out with my daughter."
10. "Do you have a pre-game routine, and if so, what is it?"
"Stay calm, focus, review details...compete."

"To become a better person than when they started."
