Stanwood player in stable condition

The Stanwood football player hurt Friday in the Meadowdale vs Stanwood game is still at Harborview Medical Center and in stable condition, according to the Everett Herald. According to the report the injury is one of the deadliest of all head injuries -- a subdural hematoma. It happened to 16-year-old Junior Ben Zipp late in the first quarter, after a play on defense. A helicopter landed on the field and airlifted Zipp, a 6'1", 205 lb RB/LB, to Harborbview. While improving, Zipp will stay in the hospital for monitoring for at least one week. The game was suspended in the second quarter with Meadowdale leading 14-7. No word yet if the game will be completed this season.
