State Cheerleading Championships info

The state cheerleading championships and Salute to Spirit event are this weekend at the Comcast Arena in Everett. 20 high schools from around the state are competing. Doors open at 8:30 on Saturday. From the WIAA:
This Saturday, January 24, the Comcast Arena at Everett will serve as the site for 2009 WIAA Salute to Spirit, presented by Farmers Insurance and the WIAA/Dairy Farmers of Washington/Les Schwab Tires State Cheerleading Championships presented by Wells Fargo Bank.


Salute to Spirit, presented by Farmers Insurance, a premier high school Dance/Drill showcase will begin the day. 2009 is the fourth year for this competition. The event will feature 20 high schools from around the state. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. with performances beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Souvenir apparel and commemorative programs will be sold at the event. Votes will be tabulated at the end of the competition and the "People's Choice" winner will be recognized during the awards presentation which is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.


The WIAA Cheerleading State Championships will begin at 4 p.m. 2009 marks the third year that the WIAA will host the State Cheerleading Championships and the first year at the Comcast Arena at Everett. The awards presentation is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. There are a total of 50 high schools participating in multiple categories: Novice, Small, Medium, Large, Super Large, Small Coed, Medium Coed, Large Coed, Super Large Coed, Non-tumbling, and Crowd Leader.


Tickets will be available on-site and include entry to both Salute to Spirit and the Cheerleading State Championships. Ticket prices for high school students with a valid ASB card and senior citizens are $7 per person and ticket prices for adults are $9 per person.
