Father, referee in altercation at Lake Washington HS

School officials are trying to get to the bottom of an incident on Saturday that left a Bothell basketball player's father on the ground after an altercation with a referee, according to the Seattle Times.

It seems the player's father -- who uses a walker -- fell to the ground after contact from the ref. The ref, meanwhile, reportedly ended up on the ground after being pushed by the Bothell player. Officials ended up calling the game with seven minutes to go. At the time Lake Washington was ahead of Bothell 49-39.

There are multiple accounts of what happened. Allegedly, the incident began when the father tossed the game ball back onto the court and it struck the referee. When the ref responded, the player's father -- who is recovering from cancer treatment -- ended up on the ground. Which is where the player allegedly sent the ref (the player has been suspended for one game).

You can read more about the incident here. No word when or if the teams will finish the game.

after reading this story in the Times this ref was lucky he didn't get his fat hesd kicked in.If it was my disabled father that ref would be fighting for his life right now!

Even a one legged man can kick a ball at you... legal liability lies with the one that initiated the assault, regardless of what happens if a fight follows.
